Will being wet make me absorb uv rays better?

If it does how do I avoid it?
Answer:
Nope, you see, UV rays affect a person even if you put on sunscreen. That just protects for a while. While youre in water, it might not seem like you are getting UV rays, but you are. It is the same amount through any matter on earth, no matter what.
The worst sunburn I ever got was from snorkeling.wet in the water with the sun magnifying on my back. Wear a shirt, apply sunscreen frequently.

Will Andy Milonakis look the same age when he's 75?

He's really 31 but looks 13 and according to Wikipedia "He has a congenital growth-hormone condition that gives him the outward appearance and voice of a pre-adolescent boy, when he is in fact an adult man". I was wondering if he will stay young forever and never die?

Will a recovering drug addict ever been seen as something more than a drug addict?

I know a person who is in recover for 5 years now. But theres still this stigma "once a drug addict always a drug addict!" Will he ever gai the trust issue from his family or co-workers, which as right now they don't even know that he is one. For fear that they may look at him as a different person. He's afraid of losing his job etc...
Answer:
Yes "once a drug addict always a drug addict" because it is a disease. A desease of which there is no cure. Every day is a struggle hench "one day at a time". "Trust" only in the fact he/she is fighting daily for control of their life.
Soooo.if no one knows he's an addict, then what is the issue?
certainly he has more to prove, but i think that if he does indeed beat his addiction it is a wonderful show of his strength as a person
that depends...they need to also be rid of the druggie attitude. Strive for bigger things and take a huge part in society. but yes they can be more, absolutely!
First of all.Are you that "person" ??
Give it time , things will take a while but if your "friend" stays clean and sober, eventually things will be back to normal.
Sure, I personally look up to one who is recovering and making somthing good of their life. Do thing that make a positive difference that people will notice.
Don't worry, some people who had coke and alcool problems can end up president...There are a number of accounts of substance abuse and otherwise disorderly conduct by Bush in his early years. Bush has admitted to drinking "too much" in those years and described this period of his life as his "nomadic" period of "irresponsible youth". On September 4, 1976, at the age of 30, Bush was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol near his family's summer home in Kennebunkport, Maine. He pleaded guilty, was fined $150, and had his driver's license suspended until 1978 in Maine. So there is hope!
as long as he has not been in jail for it he should be fine with his employer. if as a drug addict he hurt his family/friends than that may take some time if never to get their trust back. also, if he stays clean and is honest, when he is straight people will see him as who he is now and not what he knows he was. when you meet someone for the first time, as they say, the first impression is the lasting impression
If he is recovered it is something from the past and by the way recovery is not easy a friend of mine had to go to rehab for a heroin issue he now looks at life in a much better way and has become a conselor that teenagers can relate to, So to me he is just my friend that works at a rehab.
Yes, give it TIME, but he must have different feelings about himself as well.
I applaud this person that has changed. My sister and brother both grew up as drug addicts. Took them nowhere. Sister died not even knowing us she was so gone in other world by drugs. I lost my sister long before she ever really died.
Brother in and out of jail. No future for him now. He has totally given up on having or owning anything in live. Also, my entire family trusted neither one of them. Again, I applaud this person, but...it will take a while for others to see him as he wants to see himself. Patience is something that he needs a lot of as well as support.
Yes, they will change the way they have seen him but he must really be changed. If you are healthy then you will act and look health. If you are sick, you will shown signs of illness. I hope that made sense to you. In other words, if it walks like a duck...know what I mean.
This is a tough road he has ahead of him but it will be so well worth it. He is going to have to walk through hot coals for a while, but there is an end.
He must stop worrying what people think of him and today start living like he should and it will all shine through. If he worries it is a sure sign of going the wrong road again and therefore not to be trusted. He MUST TRUST HIMSELF and then others will follow. Some may never but you can please everyone even if you have NEVER done drugs at all.
Good luck to a long and clean life.

Will a person with a nut allergy have a reaction to almonds?

I ask this because almonds are in the order 'rosales', and is more closely related to peaches than to, say, peanuts, which are of the order 'fabales', so they are quite different. Thanks!
Answer:
Hello, When most people are told they have a Tree Nut allergy they are told to avoid Peanuts and when they are allergic to Peanuts they are told to avoid Tree nuts ( which is what Almonds are) simply because of the possiblity of cross contamination. It is not like you can "brush them off" in hopes of avoiding a reaction which could turn deadly. Here is s ome more information to clarify things! Allergies: Living With a Nut Allergy
Allergic reaction to nuts can progress rapidly to anaphylaxis. Peanut allergy is responsible for more fatalities than any other type of allergy. If you suffer from a nut allergy, strictly avoiding nuts, including peanuts and tree nuts like cashews and walnuts, and food containing nuts is the only way to prevent a reaction. But, it is not always easy to avoid these foods since many unsuspecting products contain nuts.Always check the label ingredients before you use a product. In addition, check the label each time you use the product. Manufacturers occasionally change recipes, and a trigger food may be added to the new recipe. Also, keep in mind that many prepared foods, including baked goods, candy and ethnic foods, can be contaminated with peanuts if products containing peanuts are prepared in the same place or by the same manufacturer. Always be prepared for this possibility and the risk of a reaction.Examples of peanut and tree-nut products and foods that may contain them, include:Peanut Products Peanut-Containing Ingredients Tree Nuts Tree Nut-Containing Ingredients Nut-Containing Foods :

Be sure to check labels of these products, as well as food labels. Peanut %26 Nut Allergy Food allergies are nothing to sneeze at. Their symptoms - nausea, itchy hives, breathing difficulty, and swelling - are miserable. In extreme cases, allergies can be deadly. In sensitive people, the body makes allergy-type antibodies specific to food proteins. If a person with a food allergy eats the specific food, the allergy-causing food proteins react with these antibodies, triggering an allergic reaction that includes release of histamine and other chemicals. Release of these substances can cause a host of uncomfortable symptoms affecting your skin, cardiovascular or respiratory system or stomach and intestines - usually within minutes of eating, but almost always within 2 hours.
However, it may be only seconds before someone with a severe allergy may experience an anaphylactic (a-na-fi-LAK-tik) reaction. In this life-threatening condition, the respiratory or circulatory systems may be seriously affected. The airways in the lungs may constrict and the soft tissues in the throat may swell, making it difficult to breathe. The heart beats rapidly, and dizziness or fainting may follow. Immediate medical attention is essential for a life-threatening anaphylactic reaction.
Any food can cause a food allergy. But few actually are proven to trigger reactions. The most common offenders are peanuts, tree nuts, shellfish (especially shrimp), whitefish, milk and eggs.
Peanuts, nuts and seeds (such as Sesame and Sunflower seeds) can cause a severe allergy which can be life threatening and needs immediate medical attention. A research study in Cambridge (Ewan, 1996) concludes that allergy to nuts, mainly peanuts, is occurring in very young children, that peanut and nut allergies are becoming more common and that with time, multiple peanut/nut allergies are appearing.
Symptoms of peanut allergy include vomiting, diarrhoea, and swelling of the face, throat and acute abdominal pain. The first symptoms may include sneezing and a tingling sensation on the lips; tongue and throat, followed by pallor, feeling unwell, warm and light headed. The danger signs are difficulty in breathing, pallor and shock. This reaction needs to be treated immediately with adrenaline injection. Always ring a doctor immediately or seek emergency medical help if you have any suspicion of an allergic shock reaction.
Ewan investigated 62 cases of suspected nut allergy. Some proved to be allergic to more than one type of nut. Peanuts were the commonest cause of allergy (47 cases), followed by Brazil nuts (18), Almonds (14) and Hazelnuts (13). The onset of allergic symptoms occurred by the age of two years in 50% of the patients and by the age of seven in the vast majority of cases. Peanuts accounted for all nut?related allergies in children sensitised in the first year of the life and for 82% of allergies in children sensitised by the age of three years.
Measures to be taken to reduce the risk of nut/peanut allergy:
1. Avoidance of peanuts/nuts by young children, particularly by those with other allergies such as hay fever, asthma and eczema.
2. Any child allergic to peanuts should avoid all peanuts and nut products for three to five years.
3. The airline meal ingredients and peanut dust recirculating in the cabin air from packets of peanuts can pose a risk during plane journey. Special request to the airline can be made to remove peanuts from the plane; it must be supported by a doctor's certificate.
4. Inform playgroups, schools, workplace, friends and relatives. The parents and careers of allergic individuals should know how and when to give adrenaline and antihistamine.
5. Education about food sources is essential as peanut and nut products may be encountered at any meal. Do not risk testing food by eating small amounts. The best policy is to speak with the person responsible for preparing the food.
6. Simply removing peanuts from a dish of nuts does not remove the contaminated protein; peanut oils can also be contaminated with peanut protein, as can utensils used to cook foods containing peanuts.
7. During pregnancy, if a mother who is not affected herself has a child with peanut allergy, it is sensible to avoid peanuts during future pregnancy and breast feeding, and to select infant foods that do not contain peanuts or peanut oil.
8. Join Medic Alert and obtain a Medic Alert emblem, worn as a bracelet or medallion. Engraved on the back of the emblem is the member's medical condition, a personal identification number and a 24-hour telephone number.
9. Those who know that they may suffer from a severe allergic reaction to peanuts must ensure that they carry adrenaline with them at all times, as prescribed by their GP or consultant. It could be a matter of life and death.

TREE NUT ALLERGY
If you are allergic to tree nuts...
What does a tree nut allergy mean?If a child has a peanut allergy, there is an increased likelihood that the child can develop a tree nut allergy. Most experts suggest that people allergic to tree nuts avoid peanuts as well. Tree nuts can be especially dangerous because they are hidden in so many places where you might not expect to find them. Tree nuts often show up in lotions and shampoos, so beware.

PEANUT ALLERGY
If you are allergic to Peanut...
What does a peanut allergy mean?Peanut allergy is one of the most common, serious and potentially fatal food allergies. It is an immune response (involving the IgE antibodies) to peanut protein, causing the release of histamine chemicals in the body which result in a host of symptoms. Anaphylaxis is a severe IgE antibody triggered reaction which requires urgent medical attention and the administration of epinephrine to stop the reaction. Studies show that there has been a sharp increase in peanut allergies over the last 5-10 years, particularly in children, not only in the US but in Australia and the UK. A common question is why? Although no definitive answer is available, there are several theories: that we introduce peanuts to children too early; the increased use of soy in formula and other processed food (soy and peanut are both beans); and the use of roasted peanuts in food (heating changes the protein which the body is more likely to react to), rather than raw/boiled peanuts. Another common theory is the hygiene hypothesis which believes that our immune systems have little to fight anymore because we live in a cleaner, healthier, antibacterial world and therefore, the immune system reacts to certain food proteins and mistakes them for a threat. A lowered immune function due to increased antibiotic use, vaccinations, high processed food and pesticide use are also factors to be considered. Symptoms of a peanut allergic reaction can occur immediately or over a period of up to two hours. Peanut allergy reactions can be unpredictable and caution is always required. Peanut allergy symptoms affect various systems of the body and include: Hives/urticaria/wheals (small raised itchy areas likened to bites)
Itchy red skin, rashes
Congested runny nose
Pain in the stomach, vomiting, nausea, diarrhea
Swelling/edema of the lips, skin tongue and airways (causing constriction, wheezing and difficulty breathing)
Shock (as blood pressure drops and the blood struggles to pump blood around the body)
The smell of peanuts or even second hand contact like kissing or shaking hands with someone else who has eaten a peanut product has been reported to produce an allergic reaction. People with severe peanut allergy are at risk of suffering anaphylactic shock. Peanut (Arachis hypogaea) is actually a bean/legume vine plant that grows underground. It is related to other beans (such as peas, beans and lentils) but it is probably unnecessary to avoid them unless your doctor tells you otherwise. It is more common for someone with peanut allergy to react to nuts from trees, particularly almonds, walnuts, hazelnuts, Brazil nuts, or cashews. However, some peanut allergic patients find they can eat these nuts without a problem. Please consult and follow your doctors advice.

A person with nut allergies have a reaction to Almonds- oh no, no, no ,no NOOOO my friend, where would you ever get an idea like that! Oh, they are QUITE different.A person with a nut allergy will only be allergic to nuts, not almonds!
Don't listen to the first person, almonds are nuts so yes you will be allergic to them.
When you buy a jar or can of assorted nuts there are
almonds in them. So yes I would count them as nuts also.
I don't know about all that, but they are usually processed in the same place/equipment and THAT can result in an allergy.
i believe so due to the fact that almonds is of the nut family.

Will a person cure from injecting vaccination after infected by hepatitis B a few months? (says 3 to 6 months)

I wonder if vaccination will work if a person only get infected by hepatitis B virus in a short period (says half a year)?
I know for hep B carrier, which they carry virus for years, and the vaccine will not work for them. But how about short period like this (half an year or 3 months?)
Answer:
hepatitis B vaccine is a recombinant vaccine that has HBs Ags of HBV. it is effective only before reciveing disease. the only vaccine that is effective after rhe disease is rabies vaccine that dr gives it after bite of a dog. vaccination is only a way to prevent disease. for cure we use interfron gamma with an antiviral drug.
I must say that it may some people will not immune to disease because of genetic disorders.
be care of yours
No, a vaccination will not 'cure' anyone already infected, whether it be hepatitis or any other disease. It only helps prevent it. Such as getting a flu shot AFTER getting the flu. First of all it wouldn't be given to you because you're already sick from it. As a nurse, I got the set of 3 injections for Hepatitis since I work with blood all day. When tested to see if I had developed antibodies to the hepatitis I had not. The shots just didn't take hold in me so I'm still at risk.Anyway, hope this helps some.

Will a doctor perform a biopsy so i can get a job?

im in military and i have "soft tissue" swelling. ive had it for about 7 months now. it has slowly surely getting larger. it starts at my wrist and is almost half way down my arm. no real pain associated with it but has started to hurt a little occassionally. ive had an MRI and Xray done and neither showed anything there. ive seen many doctors including orthopedic surgeon and all have said they dont know what it is and that they dont want to biopsy it until it causes a lot of pain or restricts movement. does anyone know if a doctor would be more willing to perform biopsy if i tell him that im getting out of military in 5 months and i plan on getting another job that will require a physical exam. and when they ask me whats on my arm i can only say that i have gotten it checked out and noone can tell me what it is.
Answer:
You should just tell them that you are having increased pain if that is the only way they are telling you they will do the biopsy. Other wise, they should be able to give you a work release note stating that is not anything that they can see.

Will a bacterial infection go away eventually on its own without an antibiotic?

Answer:
No, it won't! Get on bactrim or septra. It'll take a few days, but you'll feel better.
Not usually. You may need an antibiotic.
It depends on the environment in which the bacteria is in. But in the optimal setting for bacteria it won't go away w/o antibiotics.
Nope, it'll just get worse..yeah, I mean it will go away but why wait when you can take anitbiotics for a week and be healthy again.

Wife went to doctor with eye infection they injected eye with ladocaine now she's blind in one eye explain ?

Answer:
There are doctors, opticians and ophthalmologists. You want an ophthalmologist.
Lidocaine is usually a drop that they use to numb your eye ball before they poke and prod to check pressure.
I have re-occuring eye infections due to allergies. I have never had an eye doctor or a medical doctor to inject lidocaine into my eye or stick a needle in my eye. You should contact a personal injury attorney to see what her legal rights. You are need a copy of her treatment when she went to the doctor.
Did the dr tell you it would cause blindness? Or that it would cause temporary blindness? Depending on how long she's had this problem I would wait a few more days or call an injury lawyer. That's not right!! Good luck! I hope it's just temporary.
I don't understand why they would inject her eye with lidocaine. Lidocaine is a topical, local anesthetic. I'm not a doctor by any means, but the whole idea???I would NOT sit around asking questions on Yahoo, I would have her in the ER. This could be a serious problem that may cause permanent damage.
I think you or your wife may have the facts wrong. Lidocaine isn't used to treat eye infections nor is it injected into the eye. It would be helpful to know what kind of "eye infection" your wife has and what type of doctor she went to. Your wife can contact the doctor she went to and get in writing exactly what transpired and what was or was not given at the time of the visit. At the present, she's not in a position to pursue legal recourse - not based on what you've posted here.

Wierd sensation on back?

Hi, it's going to be 1 yr I had breast reduction because I have also been big breasted but I got pregnant w/ triplets so they got huge, well I suffered I lot of back pain during and after my pregnancy so last yr 3 yrs later My insurance approved my breast reduction my chiro suggested to them to do it cause my back was already messed up... Wierd muscle spasm :( Creeping me out a lot!?

There is a spot right beneath my right breast that has been twitching all day. It happens a few times an hour, will twitch for 5-10 seconds, then stop. The spot is only three or four inches in diameter, and is not connected to my breast at all. I looked at the spot when it was happening and you can see the spot spazzing when it does this. Its really wierd and kind of creeping me out. Does anyone know what it might be?
Answer:
I get that in my eyelids. Annoying! It could be you've used that muscle more than it's used to, or you're a touch low on potassium. Try having a banana, and maybe putting a heating pad on it. Muscle spasms are weird, but not harmful.
are you epileptic it could be that?

Whyhaveigottingling inmyfingerslefthand andsmall like blisters alsosorenes underarmpit?

Answer:
the tingling in your left hand,
is most likely to be unconnected
to the blistering under your armpit First tingling in your left hand ;
may be caused by a number of things
eg;
poor posture
carpel tunnel syndrome
repetitive strain injuries
peripheral neuropathy ( caused by poor circulation)
diabetics get this tingling, as the peripheral nerve endings do not get a good supply of oxygen and so numbness and loss of feeling and tingling is a symptomThe rash under your arm
, could be caused by something as simple as a
heat rash ,
itching causes you to scratch
, breaking the blisters and allowing bacteria
to infect the area
the sore ness is also caused ,
as the glands in your armpit are working "overtime!" to fight the infection, that has developed there .All this is only outlining probables ... not a complete answer ONLY A VISIT TO YOUR DOCTOR WILL COME UP WITH THE DIAGNOSIS YOU WANT
ALSO THE TREATMENT YOU NEED%26gt;Please visit your Doctor before this gets worse be well
%26gt;^,,^%26lt;
Not sure, but it's obviously affecting your ability to find the space bar on your keyboard. Maybe you should see a doctor, or get a new keyboard.
Sounds like an infection. See your GP.
Might want to get to a doctor and get that checked out so you can get treatment, especially since it could be something contagious.
interesting that you assume it is an std.
It could be chicken pox or a herpies virus, go to the docs as both contagious.
has your keyboard not got a spacebar? Or can you not press it with your messed up fingers?
a friend told me that a rash under your arm is a sign of syphillis..dont know if its true probally not..

Why would you NOT have a lapband procedure?

Answer:
In what I have read it doesn't give the possibility for enough weight loss. I think many people will still be overweight, or even still obese with the Lapband. I don't think the benefit outweighs the risk. For some people I suppose it would be a good choice... but for most people I think the Roux-en-Y-gastric bypass makes more sense - it's riskier but I believe it's a wiser choice for those who are morbidly obese.
Um...because I'm not overweight, that's why.

Why would someone wake up with a "smoker type cough" if they DON'T SMOKE?

..... and as the years have gone on, it seems to be a bit worse.
My husband DOES NOT smoke (anything) yet he wakes up and hacks like a smoker (just when he initially wakes up). His annual check-ups are fine BUT he has not had his lungs examined. Should he be concerned?
Answer:
I can only suggest based on my experience that it may be due to asthma. Even if he doesn't feel like he has problems breathing, asthma can cause that kind of coughing... That's what my doctor told me.
well he may not smoke now but if he ever did that nasty crap is still in his lungs, and sometime you just have mucus in yuou lungs that you can't get rid of
If he works with alot of people who smoke, he actually does.second-hand. . . .If it were me, YES, I would see a doctor.
2nd hand smoke??
Yes, get him to get his lungs examined. He could have a number of problems, including chronic bronchitis or pneumonia. Also, if he works around smokers he could get second hand smoke, and a lot of problems smokers get he could get, like the aforementioned coughing. I hope it works out for you!
he may be very dry ,if he sleeps with his mouth open=the phlegm that is in his nostrils flows down the back of the throat and gets thick from his open mouth breathing =this is only an idea as to what it is =best thing for him to do would be to get the Dr to have a look at things
Is he in a dusty job?
Is he around second hand smoke ?
One of my inhalers caused this problem
TB
You may want to suggest he get a chest x-ray to check the lungs.
He may just have mucous that builds up overnight from lying down, which tickles his throat, and causes him to cough. He could also have allergies he wasn't aware he had developed.
If you live in Los Angeles, or a crowded city, it could be the smog we breathe, which gets worse each year.Good luck!
get his lungs tested
I used to have the same problem. I quit drinking all soft drinks and it went away within less than a week.If he can't give up the soft drinks you might have him try Mucinex before he goes to bed. This will also help cut down on his snoring and he will wake up with no phlegm.
Waking up at night with coughing spells is either an indication of asthma ( night coughs may be the only presenting symptom) or reflux. While sleeping the lower esophageal sphincter relaxes and acid is refluxed into the esophagus. When we sleep we do not protect our airways and if relfux is sever people wake up with violent coughing episodes or chocking after some acids seeps into the upper airway resulting in airway spasm.consult your family doctor for proper tests.

hello this is billie it could be something else wrong not just smoking cough billie

Why would one become an oncologist? Isn't that pretty stressful?

Answer:
When I did my rotation in oncology, I thought it would be very depressing and stressful. The patients, for the most part made it one of the best experiences I had in training.
They maintained their sense of optomism and sense of humor through some of what must have been the most painful part of their lives. I learned a lot from the doctors and from the patients. We all could.
I am glad some have decided to do it as stressful as it may be. My brother has been having to have chemo-therapy to fight his cancer. We have had several members of our family to get cancer and have to be treated by an oncologist.
Sure its stressful, but with so many types of cancers out there, and the increase of people having it - this job is very necessary and very important. Any job comes with stress, of course, but sometimes it takes stress to feel rewarded. In the practice of oncology - you are helping people to detect early signs of cancer and treat them so that they can live long and healthy lives.
its really that person decision. if they go to college right after high school and they are 18... they will 32 by the time they are a full oncologist. but in the end it is all worth it. its not all that much of a stressfull job. not as stressful as a trama doctor thats for sure.i want to become an oncologist because my dad died from both types of leukemia and i want to find out what caused that because no doctor knows and dont really care anymore since he is gone. and i want to help a lot of people like they have helped my dad and helped my family get through grieving. its a very rewarding job.

Why would my leg be going numb?

My right leg will go numb down the side, and I know this is from my back. But now my left leg is going numb on the top of the calf. I've recently been having dizziness problems which the Dr told me is an inner ear thing. My left arm is going numb, too. I am also starting to retain a LOT of water ( like 10 lbs). I have no medical insurance so I can't afford a bunch of tests. Any ideas??
Answer:
It could be a lot of things. I don't think it is wise for you to listen to anyone's diagnosis on the internet...especially if it is serious. I would go to www.webmd.com and you can type in your symptoms. Sometimes it will narrow down what might really be the problem...but honestly I would go to the dr. honey, no matter what the cost.
is there a clinic you can go to?? you need some help =what's going on is not normal stuff
Try a walk in clinic. I have no idea what could be wrong... that sounds like something my mom had wrong with her back.. just without the dizziness.
Good luck though.
This is tough. My sister had numbness on her right side, leg and then arm. She was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis after a series of tests. Another possibility is lyme disease. You don't have health insurance? DOESN'T matter!! Health is FAR more important than $$$. Someday(I hope) our country will realize it. Good news, many hospitals/towns have froms you can fill out for financial assitence free of charge. I was in the hospital for bronchitis and got a $1000+ bill, filled out a form, 2 weeks later got a letter saying town funding had covered it. If town doesn't cover it, hospitals usually give you the most time to pay back bills without effecting your credit. They know it is costly and you have NO choice but to take care of yourself, $$$ or not.
Of course, go to the doctor is my first advice.
Second would be to do daily stretching and aerobic exercises. The Step works very well.Get your blood flowing better, your metabolism up. This also increases repair of the nerves.Hope this helps.
With or without insurance, get yourself to a good medical care facility. Tell them the problem. That much numbness is serious, and you will not find answers on the web. Personally, I have a similar problem, but much less of one -- only the top of one leg, and I've had it for years. My doctor says it is because of my weight. But yours is getting worse with time. Wait no longer.

Why would my husband have passed away 12 hours after having a perfect Angiogram?

Minor heart attack 3 days earlier. Angiogram results came out perfect. Heart looked strong and healthy.
Answer:
That's something you need to discuss with his doctors. We have no way of knowing the answer to this question.
You didn't say what his cause of death was. If it was a heart attack there is no way to know when you will have one. He could have had a blood clot somewhere they broke off and went straight to his heart. If you have unanswered questions your best bet is to talk to his doctor about all of this.
heart beats faster.
First and most importantly let me say I am very sorry this happened .
To answer your questionObstructions are not the only thing that causes heart attacksInflamation (swelling within the vessels) , arterial spasm, heart beat interuption many things could have caused this
I am so sorry for your loss.As my cardiologist explained before my angiogram, there are risks to this proceedure. They are inserting a line into a major artery in the groin and making it travel up into the heart. So many things can happen during this proceedure and they also told me that the bypass surgery I had is safer than the angiogram but both are very invasive and anything can happen. Again, I am so very sorry for your loss.
sorry for your lossangiogram reveals the presence of thrombus or narrowing of the coronary arteries ...maybe he did not have narrowing
maybe he died from spasm to the arteries.
There could be a number of reasons why your husband died after an angiogram. did his doctor let him know that one of the complication of an angiogram is death. if your husband had another heart attack, it could mean that he had a massive heart attack. there can be a chance that a clot was dislodged somewhere on his artery and caused blockaged thus leading to a heart attack.
There is a program on PBS all about Heart Disease, they cover the topic you are asking about, very thoroughly.
First, I am very sorry for this loss in your life. As some of the others have answered, there can be many reasons for your husband's death. There are risks with many procedures, including angiography. Just the stress alone could have caused a lethal arrhythmia. When you are ready, talk with your doctor, your family and your pastor. You may never know why, but you may reach a point of comfort that will heal your soul. Good Luck and may God bless you.
you need to talk to his doctor and ask him these questions
I am so sorrry about the lost of your husband.

Why would my finger turn purple?

A few days ago I put light purple nail polish on my finger and toe nails. All of them turned out okay except for my middle finger on my left hand. It turned out light purple with dark purple streaks in it. I didn't do anything different to it. Today my finger is purple. It seems to be generating from the nail. I is turning bright purple. The splotch is growing bigger all the time. It seems to be under the skin. I do have a little cut under my fingernail. Do you think that might have something to do with it? What should I do about it?
It doesn't hurt or anything though. It just looks strange.
Answer:
I wouldn't do any thing to it because it could be infection until u get it check out by a doctor. When of if you get check it by a doctor do everything they tell u do.I would go to the emergency room if it starts to get look worst or if it starts to hurt or starts to look bigger. If it does start to hurt take an aspirin and if it starts to look bigger take an aspirin and put some ice on it.Also call your doctor to make an appointment to make nothing else is going.
Just to be on the safe side, go to your DR., and have it checked, especially if it is spreading.

Why would lettuce make you sick?

I gave up eating lettuce because I got sick so many times after it with bad stomach cramps. It took me a long time to identify the source of the problem. Could I be allergic to lettuce, or could there be something like traces o finsecticide or preservative that I'm highly sensitive to?It's hard to avoid lettuce as they seem to give it to you with everything in restaurants. I always have to tell them not to when I'm ordering. Sometimes I get sick even eating something that has been in contact with lettuce.I'm otherwise healthy and can tolerate almost any other food. Thanks!
Answer:
It is possible that you may be allergic to lettuce, but nobody on Yahoo! can make that diagnosis. See an allergist. I'm more inclined to believe that you had some lettuce that wasn't properly washed and you had a reaction to a pesticide or some other stuff that was on the lettuce itself. If you prepared the lettuce yourself it would be easier to track down than if the lettuce were served from a restaurant, fast food joint or buffet style. Getting sick from eating something that has been in contact with lettuce does not make any sense at all unless the contaminant is highly mobile and then you should see it crawling off the lettuce onto whatever else is next to the lettuce. I strongly suspect that you have conditioned yourself over time to dislike lettuce, probably because of a few bad reactions, and your reactions are largely psychosomatic. That can be treated also, if you really want to like lettuce.
Becasue lettuce is very Evil, yes yes,. very evil indeed.orYou are intolerant to "green" stuff, like you'd get the same effect eating grass. You arnt a cow, cows can break down the stuf in grass / lettuce, some ppl cant and they get sick.
Dogs and cats cant digest grass,so they eat it when they want to get sick and throw up.
maybe the lettuce you ate is infested
Buy the organic lettuce. What you are eating most likely does have remnants of pesticides and other things that have grown into the leaves. The organic doesn't have any of that and may well be your solution. Worth a try :) I have a friend who can't eat lettuce unless it's organic so she won't get salads in the restaurants and removes it from her sandwiches ~ or just tell them you don't want it. When there is something I can't have, like pickles, I tell them not to put it on the plate and send it back if they do. I have reactions to vinegar if I get too much in my system so I order my food the way I know I can eat it and most places will comply.
My first response to this question was that maybe you don't wash your lettuce well enough before eating it. Not too many people do this, as they should. You could be allergic to the pesticides/preservatives.
It could be that it wasn't washed properly, or washed at all.
-Yes, you could be alergic to it.
Many green vegetables an leafy legumes, have that effect on peoples stomachs. Just like beans.
Now that you know the source of your cramps, life should be much easier for you. Just say no to lettuce.
Good Luck!
I read several years ago that they put something on the lettuce in the restaurants to help it stay fresh. I forgot what it is called. I also read that some salad bars had to put up a sign when they did that.

Why would i need a bone scan?

My doctor just called me back to tell me my blood test results. she told my my enzymes were high and that i should retest. if they come back high again i would need a bone scan. does anyone know why i would need a bone scan if my enzymes were high? should i be worried?
Answer:
There are many reasons for a bone scan. from osteoprosis.. to low calcium. bone density to cancer... I am being honest here.. Call your doc back.. ask what would cause the enzyms to be high.. and why a bone scan...good luck.
A bone scan tests for bone density like Osteosporosis
the 1st answer, was good advice- take it- good luck.
It's hard to say without knowing which enzymes were tested. (Cardiac, pancreatic, etc.?)
Bone scans are often done after high enzyme levels of all kinds, for reasons ranging from the not so to the very serious. It's probably quicker to call your MD than to try to hash it out here. Ask her what she is trying to diagnose (or rule out) and what the connection to a bone scan is. Only your doctor will be able to give you a definitive answer.Hope all turns out well for you!

Why would he be sleepy?

My fiance called me and said he has been sleepy for about 3 days now. He is getting plenty of sleep. please if anyone has any serious answers please respond. also he says he feels fine besides being tired.
Answer:
He could just be fighting off a virus. Sometimes the body makes you feel very very tired when you are sick. But, if it continues, I would try an over the counter sleep aid, something gentle like Unisom, or Tylenol PM. It will help him sleep through the night and could help him feel more rested for the time being I do recommend that he sees his doctor as soon as possible, because the Unisom, or Tylenol PM is just temporary, and he needs to be see by a physician, and explain what is going on with him, and they will be able to help him. He may need to go to a sleep clinic if it gets too bad. Hope he feels better soon, and hope your worries subside soon too.
he needs to make up 4 the hours he lost b4

Why would a doc increase citalopram from 20mg to 40mg?

Answer:
Preumably because he is not yet getting the desired theraputic effect. Why don't you ask him?
if he thinks your anti-depressants not working he will double the dose!
I have taken this medication for depression. I will assume that is why you are taking it. The doctor increased my dose from 20mg to 40mg as it was not proving effective at 20mg. In fact a couple of months later she changed me to a different medication altogether. Anti-depressants are a bit trial and error and the doctor will want to manage it closely i.e. by increasing the dose and giving it a sufficient chance to work. If you see no improvements in the next 4-6 weeks talk to your GP about trying a different anti-depressant.
Hi, the usual starting dose is 20mg, and is often then increased until you get the desired result. Doctors aim to find the minimum effective dose of a medication, as this is cost effective and prevents less strain on our bodies - less side effects too usually. The maximum dose - that is approved in the UK - is 60mg .Good luck! Rob
hi, i have taken this drug in the past when i was having a bit of a bad time and became slightly depressed, just like somebody has already mentioned anti depressants and especially from the ssri group are very much trial and error, your gp will normally start you off at the lowest dosage to see if you take to tht particular one, i personally had to come off citalopram and try another which i'm glad to say worked very well and i'm back on track now,so i think the answer is your gp may jusy want to up the dosage to perhaps give you better result from whatever it is your suffering from, i wouldn't stress to much about it, i hope it works out for you, feel free to contact me if you have anything else you wanna know about anti depressants, it sometimes is easier to speak to someone who has been there, cheers Dave

Why would a cold come on so suddenly and strong?

Yesterday I felt ok--a bit extra tired in the evening. But this morning I woke up with a nasty,full-blown cold.I have a sore throat, runny nose, chills, cough, sneezing, and my voice sounds like a frog on mushrooms.
I hardly ever get colds!
I am now taking a cold remedy that removed the runny nose and coughing and replaced it with an all-consuming fatigue--which is very bad,as I am the mom of 4.
Any suggestions?!Thanks.
Answer:
It could just be that your immune system was already low and the cold has managed to take on full force because of that. Are you getting enough sleep? That can affect how quickly a cold takes hold. Are you experiencing more stress than usual? Have you been feeling run down lately? All these things could be the reason. Keep up the vitamin C intake and try and get rest when you can, which is easier said than done with four kids!Hope you feel better soon!
are you sure?.your eye isnt blood shot.hoho
i think the colds today should be called super colds..and super flu.
i had the flu for one week..and the cough remains 3 weeks later.
chicken soup..it works
hot tea lemon %26 honey
ginger ale
when you need to rest..try to go for a nap when your children are in school.
is it a cold or hayfever
There are some bad bugs around at the mo, you may well get it bad on the chest?? Quick fire solution Anti-B's off the Doc, because this strain of virus can last 2/3 weeks.
it just happens that way sometimes, it is generally a viral infection. I once like you just felt tired and woke up in the night with the sorest sore throat i have ever had with runny nose etc.
its difficult when you have children but try to rest when they do.
hope you feel better soon.

Why when i drink too much water?

and i have a full bladder, my lower abdominals r hurting??
Answer:
Because you muscles have to hold up ur stomach right so by puttin water in ur bladder your adding weight that muscles have to hold so that you dont wet yourself .your really shouldnt test ur bladder likethat u could get uti urinary tract infection if you hold urine too long
It's not the lower abdominals. It's an internal pain, caused by expanded bladder. It pressures everything else in there.
Because you need to go to the lavatory and get rid of it
It's the pressure hon. It's like when your taking a sonogram and you have to drink all that water; it feels like you are going to bust! You may be holding the water in too long. Perhaps you should use the bathroom before you feel the pressure. If it still bothers you, go to the doctor.

Why wash one's face?

Here I am in China, and absolutely everyone washes their face twice a day. Many Chinese have skin problems too. I have never washed my face in my life, and have just a few blackheads on my nose (which I just pop every other week or so.) I'm just curious, is the key to all these skin problems just washing less not more? Also, it's not genetics, because my sister and brother have lots of acne, and I believe they wash quite regularly.
Answer:
Yes you are right. You don't need to wash your face daily
or twice a day like others do. I once read in an article
about this topic. Even if you have to wash, wash it mildly
not vigourously with mild soap too.
Either way, you should wash your face AT LEAST once every two days, some people wash too much and it dries out the skin, causing acne, some people don't wash at all and it gets too dirty. and when you shower, I hope you at least rinse your face.
Why wash one's face?
Because it gets dirty like every other part of your body!
How do you feel about the build-up of sweat, grease, pollution and bacteria on your face?
Just because your skin is healthy it doesn't mean it's clean.
Genetics do play some roll. Or ur face would be spot less. Thats why u have black heads cause ur siblings do too. Its probably the water has dirt or something in it Because I was my face all the time and have no pimples at all
wash or just rinse the face in the morning because it feels good and helps to wake up and prepare for the day ahead but if not washing is working for you then it is good after all washing is only a relatively new idea

Why vomiting will result in low blood pressure, high pulse rate and high bowel sounds?

Answer:
Vomiting over a long period (repeatedly, without being able to keep liquids down) will result in dehydration pretty quickly. Dehydration in turn causes decreased circulating blood volume which results in the elevated heart rate and in severe cases a drop in blood pressure. An irritated gut exhibits increased peristalsis (the rhythmic smooth muscle contractions that move food through the gut) which can be heard as active bowel sounds.
dehydration can be a result of low blood pressure...the chain of events here. drink plenty of fluids! or, go to a hospital for fluids if you're not keeping enough in

Why veins are vague during hypoglycemia?

when a friend of mine collapsed, her veins seemed vague that when the nurse tried to insert the cannula in her hand, she had to reinsert it recurrently...it was a really painful procedure
Answer:
Hypoglycemic patients can often be dehydrated also. This could cause the veins to be difficult to locate, making it harder to gain peripheral access.

Why there is no medicine or treatment to cure Blood cancer and AIDS?

what are the difficulties to invent medicine to cure blood cancer and AIDS completely
Answer:
My last similar answer apparently Y! pulled because they thought i was doing abuse... so let me rephrase this...
I am only going to refer to sites that are included in medical journals that can be accessed by anyone, PUBLISHED INFORMATION.
The conclusion you derive from my answer will be up to you to decide. I am not trying to sell anything, but only provide information that DIRECTLY corresponds to your question. If you have any further questions, i can be contacted with my name at yahoo. There are some studies and research out on the National Library Of Medicine (pubmed.gov) regarding cancer. About a newly discovered molecule that will be used in medications. Called Garcinone E. Here is an abstract of the study: (read the last line of abstract)
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query...for those of you lab rats or research nuts that understand the studies, here is the full study:http://www.mangosteen-juice.biz/adobe%20...
You'd have to talk to the scientists who are working on this problem.
I am researching and as soon as the research is over shall revert to you.
Aid's is a lab created virus, it didn't exist 50 years ago, its a **** and bull story that it came from some ******* chimps, its a conspiracy to wipe humans out, well most of them and its also a leap for the pharmaceutical industry just like software houses, they make viruses so that they can see anti-viruses, its simple maths, as for cancer, pollution, synthetic food products, fast food etc created gene mutation which leads to cancer and isn't easily controlled, stop polluting the environment and you get help.
There are actually treatments for blood cancers such as leukemia, lymphomas and myeloma. In some cases a "cure" is possible - Hodgkin's lymphoma has a good cure rate. I guess you would have to ask the scientists why there isn't a total cure yet, I'm sure funding would be one thing that holds them back, so perhaps you should make a donation next time you see someone collecting for medical research foundations!!
We can't kill the virus when it's inside a human cell so once it's in one we can't kill it. All we can really do is try to keep it from entering human cells where it replicates itself. But it eventually builds a resistance to the meds. And, no, it wasn't made by the government or pharmaceutical industry.
Great News- The patients involved had inoperable Stage IV head and neck cancer with metastatic lymph nodes. The study concluded that hyperthermia added to radiation improved complete response (tumor disappearance) from 41% to 83%, local relapse-free survival from 24% to 68% and overall survival at 5 years from 0% to 53%, as compared to radiation treatments alone. The study, published in the International Journal of Radiation Oncology, Biology, Physics (see Vol. 28, pp. 163-169), was halted at 41 patients because, due to the strongly favorable results from the addition of hyperthermia therapy to radiation, it was not considered ethical to enroll further patients in the study who would be denied the combined treatment.

Why there is no cure or preventative vaccine for AIDS?

How hard is that to make the vaccine for AIDS? Please tell me why scienctists have no solution for AIDS.
Answer:
For the same reason we can't cure or vaccinate against the common cold. The virus mutates too quickly. (There are some specific difficulties dealing with it being a retrovirus, but mutation is the main reason.)To illustrate, let's consider the flu. The influenza virus also mutates, but more slowly, so we do have flu vaccines, but the reason you have to get one every year is because they're vaccinating against different strains every year. And only the ones that are projected to be most likely to appear that year. So you can get a flu shot for four strains, and catch a fifth one, and still have the flu that season. Imagine how much more difficult that would be if the flu could mutate ten times as fast. That's why we can't vaccinate against HIV. There are too many strains changing too fast to make an effective vaccine. So, prevention is still the best defense against HIV/AIDS.
Money. AIDS is profitible right now. Once a cure is found, the world will want it for free.
What if there is a cure for AIDS or even cancer? Well I will tell you. Then the big drug companies and the pharmaceutical companies would not make as much money as they already do. How would you feel if there is a huge cover up? Well the FDA and the FTC are notorious for covering their tracks and literally burning any scientific evidence of a cure of a disease. They to make money and get kick backs from the drug companies and the pharmaceutical companies. Sad isn't it?

Why the sore does not heals in the sugar patients?

Answer:
Diabetes is not just increased blood sugar. IT affects practicaaly all parts of the body! It can cause damage to the nerves so the patient loses feeling in his feet leading to small cuts occuring while walking. Due to the increased blood sugar, the bacteria are provided with a fertile breeding ground. diabetes also leads to accelerated atherosclerosis which causes narrowed blood vessels therby reducing the entry of WBCs, antibodies and antibiotics to the site of infection. Also the nutrients needed for building up new tissue in the healing process is prevented access to the wound site due to the impaired blood supply. Due to all these causes treating a diabetic foot is complicated and may sometimes end in amputation.
http://www.merck.com/mmhe/sec13/ch165/ch...Educate yourself, and look under 'complications' in this link. You will understand why.Licenced paramedic
They have poor circulation and it causes things to just not heal as well as people that have normal blood sugar.
The diabetes affects the flow of blood -
Diabetes patients have high amounts of blood sugar.
Bacteria that enter through the sore thrive well in these conditions and multiply at a fast rate hence the sore takes more time to heal!
the imbalance in blood circulation makes the bacterias to thrive well in the affected areas.

Why the rate of black people getting diabetes is higher than the rate of white people getting it?

5.3 whites every 100
6.8 balcks every 100any ideas?
Answer:
For nearly 40 years it has been common knowledge and generally accepted fact that certain minority groups have had a gene that made them predisposed to the awful disease of diabetes. Just recently it was announced that a group of Australian and U.S. researchers are close to dispelling the myth. The findings are published in the spring issue of the journal 'Perspectives in Biology and Medicine'."Our study challenges the presumption that Native American, Mexican American, African American, Australian Aborigine, or other indigenous groups are genetically prone to diabetes because the evidence demonstrates that higher rates of diabetes across population groups can be explained by non-genetic factors alone." said Michael Montoya an Anthropologist at UC Irvine."When it comes to diabetes, we鈥檙e finding that genes are no more important for ethnic minorities than for anyone else," said Stephanie Fullerton, a population geneticist and bio-ethicist at the University of Washington and co-author of the study. The study goes on to point out that in most of the previous studies on contributing genes to diabetes inadequate controls were in place for things such as social and environmental factors. Examples were poverty, housing segregation, and poor diet. There will be more on this study in the future I am sure-for now what does it mean? Well there are two types of contributing factors for diabetes: Controllable and Uncontrollable. Genetic predisposition is in the Uncontrollable column. Diet and lifestyle are in the controllable. I humbly submit that this is huge news for those minorities who might have felt that getting diabetes was part of their heritage and something they had to live with. NOT SO! If you can control this terrible disease it will only put a dent in your life not ruin it.
I didn't know that. I thought Native Americans were the only one's getting it more than white people. hmmm, now I do.
That really doesn't seem like that great of a discrepency to me, however, it may be based on both genetic and environmental factors working together. My guess as to the environmental factors that might contribute to this higher rate would be a poorer, less nutritious diet, perhaps due in part to the fact that the poverty rate is greater for blacks than whites. If you can't afford to eat whole, nutritious foods on a regular basis, that's going to have an impact on your whole body, including the pancreas. That's just my guess.
their diet
Plain ol' genetics.
A lot also has to do with lifestyle.
This is by no means a generalization. Where I live (eastern NC), a LOT of African American's have the deadly trio- High blood pressure, diabetes, and these lead to the third part, end stage renal disease. A large part is genetic, another part lifestyle (believing that a fingerstick of 300 is "not that bad" and that checking a blood sugar once every week or two is ok) plus diet (fried foods and sweet sweet tea), and another part is lack of education (or apathy to education attempted).
That being said, we see the same apathy and mis-education in white people as we do black.
Hispanic, black and Asian people are more susceptible to developing diabetes, according to numerous studies . Age-adjusted diabetes risk indicates that black people have 120 per cent greater risk, Hispanics 76 per cent greater and Asian people 43 per cent greater than whites. According to a new study, these minorities can slash their diabetes risk through eating better diets . The findings are published in leading journal Diabetes Care. The study confirms greater susceptibility amongst minority populations. However, three new facts have been brought to light by the research. BMI does not fully explain the racial gap in diabetes risk. Furthermore, a healthy diet has more impact on diabetes risk amongst minorities than it does for whites. Lastly, weight gain amongst Asians is a particularly strong risk factor. Researchers used info from the Nurses鈥?Health Study, an enormous long-term collection of data . The team adjusted for age, weight and other factors. The team drew a number of conclusions about diabetes and ethnicity. They report that: "In conclusion, after accounting for BMI, our study indicates that Asians, Hispanics, and blacks were all at higher risk for type 2 diabetes than whites."Speaking on diet, the time reported: "These results suggest that dietary intervention may be particularly effective for diabetes prevention among minorities, although this hypothesis needs to be tested in future studies."
Basically I think it is because of genetics. That is the main reason anyone gets diabetes.
unfortunately it is because urban blacks are exposed to sugar, higher caloric intake, just sugars.I was a medic and it happeneed all too often... it's bull***** there's nothing that can be done exept education

Why the first of may has been chosen for the world asthma day?

any body knows the history of the day?
Answer:
Hi, I always thought its because its the start of the hay fever season, and hay fever triggers allergic responses and asthma
Because the last two letters in "asthma" are m and a, and the only month that comes close in comparison on the annual calender is May. It's a stretch, I know, but nobody's ever figured out what causes asthma anyway, so what the heck. At least us asthmatics get a month of recognition at the start of spring when all the pollens begin to flare up our asthma and allergies.

Why some vaccines are longer lasting than others.. ??

Answer:
That's a good question. I think it has to do with what type of vaccine it is to begin with and here is a link that tells about the different types. I gave you a star because it made me curious too.

Why smoking pipe is not commonly use by smokers nowaday?

Some long time ago, smoking pipe was popular using by smokers, they even keep them as their collectivel antique. But now it seem this hobby is faded, Why?
Answer:
It's a hassel beacause you have to clean it and if you want to smoke it will take time you have to prepare it first putting the tobbaco. unlike a cigarret just buy them and light up. time has caught up with old pratices even smoking like using a pipe.
I think that pipe smokers finally came to believe that smoking a pipe was VERY likely to cause mouth cancer, along with the lung cancer. Common sense cut back their use of pipes.
Now...if we could just get the young folks around here to quit putting " a pinch between the gum and the lips" then we would be making great strides.
People can't take their fingers off the keyboard long enough to clean and fill it up and lite it
I must be a exception, I smoke a pipe. With pipe tobacco of course!!

Why skin wrinkle in water?

why skin wrinkle in fresh water and salt water? what is the difference of those both 2 water.. i couldnt find any answer that can explain to me how skin get wrinkle in those water so can someone help me give me an idea about it.. dOnt wori its not a homework.
Answer:
Your body is 90% water, and the reason why your skin wrinkles is like anything else when it soaks in water, the process is called osmosis and simply put, the water from your surroundings gets absorbed into your skin, thus making it swell. The wrinkles come because of where the skin is attached. You can tell this by drying off the wrinkled skin and it will still feel moist and damp, keep feeling it while your skin is drying, and you will see the difference
why not.
Skin is like a sponge, it absorbs water. And if you're in water too long, it will wrinkle.
Waters fills in the cells in your skin and you know what happens if something gets too filled up, like a sponge. Your skin the gets wrinkles because it cannot tolerate anymore water. Too wet, your skin wrinkles, too dry, your skin would also get wrinkle.

Why shouldn't someone w/ herpes use ear drops?

Answer:
That's not true. A person with herpes can use ear drops and be just fine. Where did you hear this from?
it depends, where does this person have herpes?

Why should ARV treament start only when the Cd4 is down? Why not at the discovery of the HIV virus in the body?

We know that when someone is presumed to have contacted the Hiv virus, there is a post exporsure prophylaxes that is given to the victim to take for some time. Why can't it be that when a patient is diagnosed to be hiv possitive he start his treatment at once? Why must he start the ARV treament only when his Cd4 count is down to a certain number? Is this a strategie to kill millions of others, because i myself know that this drugs are so strong that when given when the immune system is down the patient can easily die. This ARV have help to send some of this victims to their early graves as well as helping others. Please i will like if you can contact me through +2375192368 to tell me the truth if you have one. And why is that the WHO is refusing that there is no cure when i know of people who have been cured from this virus.Remember life is a secret we all need to discover. My people die because of lack of Knowledge.
Information is Knowledge and Knowledge is Power. Think about it. Thanks
Answer:
Post exposure prophylaxes are experimental and misguided life-altering chemicals, called AIDS drugs, or HAART, or ARVs. There is a general hypnosis (concensus) in the world today where people are wide eyed and readily accepting the "HIV care" that is heaped upon them by way of cartons of pills. The problem is these pills aren't the fun ones like Xanax, or Valium and despite how HIV %26 AIDS devotees wrap research results around a core predetermined belief in support of all AIDS drugs, the facts will speak for themselves.
Hi there,First of all PEP treatment is for people who can get to a health care center or their doctor within 72 hours post possible exposure. It's often used in health care centres where doctors and nurses may accidentally poke themselves with a needle after it has been used with an known HIV+ patient. After 72 hours PEP will not be given out as a treatment option. There is a "window period" which is the time it takes the body to produce antibodies after HIV infection has begun. For the vast majority of those who will test positive, antibodies to HIV will develop within 4-6 weeks after exposure. Some will take a little longer to develop antibodies. To make certain that you receive a reliable test result, it's necessary to wait at least three months (13 weeks) after your last possible exposure to the virus before being tested. Basically, PEP is given out as a hope that HIV will not develop. Presently doctors do not know if PEP is a successful treatment since doctors have no way of knowing for certain whether the PEP candidate was infected or not and by the time that they do know, PEP would no longer be an option. If after a month of PEP, and the patient, after waiting 13 weeks for testing, discovers that they are not HIV+ there is no way to make sure that it's becasue of PEp and not becuase they simply were not infected in the first place. PEP is a mental bandaid to help with the immediate shock of a possible exposure. As to when should an HIV+ patient start treatment we now know that HIV cannot be cured, or "eradicated," using the anti-HIV drugs that are currently available. However, we do know that therapy should be started 鈥?and continued 鈥?before HIV has had a chance to cause serious damage to the immune system. In this sense, it is always best to start therapy before symptoms of AIDS occur (ie. the development of an Opporetunistic Infection -OI).There is still some debate though on just how early treatment should start. Some experts think patients should "hit hard and hit early," while other experts think that "rushing is ridiculous." Here is a brief listing of the arguments each school of thought puts forward:"Hit Hard and Hit Early" Arguments 1) Preserving Immune Function - Starting therapy early can help preserve the functioning of the immune system. 2) Delaying Drug Resistance - Starting therapy early can help delay drug resistance. The longer HIV is allowed to reproduce, the more the virus is likely to mutate and become resistant to drugs once they are started. 3) Help the Immune System Fight HIV - Starting therapy early, while the immune system is healthy, might help maintain and/or correct the ability of the immune system to control HIV.4) Eradication - Starting therapy early, especially while the viral load is low, can speed up the time it takes to get rid of, or eradicate the virus from the body.5) Side Effects - Starting therapy early, while people are still healthy and have strong immune systems, can reduce the chance of experiencing side effects such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, neuropathy, and bone marrow problems.6) Compliance - Starting therapy early generally means fewer drugs to take. Not having to take drugs to prevent AIDS-related infections (prophylaxis) on top of anti-HIV drugs translates into a regimen that is easier to take."Rushing is Ridiculous Arguments"1) Preserving Immune Function - The immune system functions fine until the T-cell count goes below 200.2) Delaying Drug Resistance - Resistances will likely occur no matter when therapy is started. Even if therapy keeps viral load undetectable, the virus continues to reproduce in the body and, quite possible, become resistant to the drugs. Plus, starting therapy early might mean developing drug resistances early - before the drugs are absolutely needed.3) Help the Immune System Fight HIV - Unless therapy is started within the first few days of infection, the immune system quickly loses much of its ability to fight off HIV by itself. Besides, if drug therapy succeeds in driving HIV to undetectable levels, there might not be enough HIV in the blood to keep the immune system "aware" of the presence of the virus.4) Eradication - There is no evidence to suggest that HIV can be eradicated, regardless of viral load or when therapy is started.5) Side Effects - Starting therapy early might lead to long-term side effects such as metabolic problems and organ damage.6) Compliance - With no hard evidence that starting late actually prolongs a patient's life, then starting early just means many more years of sticking to a challenging drug regimen. With all that in mind, the latest guidelines recommend for when to start therapy, as of October 2006:1) Sever symptoms related to AIDS or an AIDS-definng illness (OI): regardless of T4 Cell count or Viral load, the patient should be on treatment.2) Asymptomatic: T4 Cells %26lt; 200, regardless of viral load, the patient should be on treatment3) Asymptomatic: T4 Cells between 200-350, regardless of viral load, treatment should be offered to the patient and the pros and cons of starting treatment need to be evaluated basically to determine if the person is ready to start treatment.4) Asymptomatic: T4 Cells %26gt; 350, Viral load %26gt; 100,000, there are no clear recommendations. Most experts recommend holding off therapy, but some recommend starting because of the high viral load.5) Asymptomatic, T4 Cells %26gt;350, Viral Load %26lt; 100,000, it is recommended to hold off therapy.I know this is a HUGE mouthfull I hope it helps.Cheers.
Hi.
Post Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) is only given to individuals who have been exposed to the HIV virus with in the last 72 hours. PEP is not given to someone after 72 hours from HIV exposure. It is also important to note that all individuals who recieve PEP are tested first and if they are HIV+, they will not recieve the PEP.
Individuals who have recieved PEP will continue to be tested after 3 months and at 6 months and then at 12 months to rule out HIV infection. If the perosn tested HIV+ at any of these times, then he would be re-evaluated treatment options would have to be considered but the PEP would be stopped.NOW FOR THE ISSUE OF WHEN TO TREATThere has been a lot of debate and research on when is the optimal time to initiate HAART.
Here are some of the conclusions from the different research that has been done so far.1. Early initiation of HAART during chronic, asymptomatic HIV infection does have a statistically significant clinical benefit in comparison to a deferred beginning, but the quantitative risk of clinical progression without HAART is relatively small and must be carefully weighed against the long-term toxicity and inconvenience of the currently available HAART regimens.
A special group of patients in whom treatment initiation should be considered more aggressively has recently been defined and consists of those with a rapid decrease of CD4 cell counts - a subgroup which has been shown to have a higher risk of subsequent clinical progression.
2. HAART is costly, demanding for both the patient and the health care provider, and leads to frequent adverse events. The clinical benefit of treatment must therefore be counter-weighed against the pill burden for the patients and the adverse events.
If you are really inerested, here are a couple of research papers that were done on the subject. There are a few intresting observations. (This is from a Johns Hopkins study.
[[[[The risk of clinical disease progression did not differ between
group 1 and group 2 (figure 1; Pp.21, log-rank test); the
number of AIDS-defining events was low in both groups (20
and 23, respectively; table 2), and there was no difference between
the risk for group 1 and for those patients for whom
initiation of therapy was delayed or who did not receiveHAART
(Pp.24). When death alone was used as the clinical end point,
there was no difference in the risk of disease progression between
groups 1 and 2 (Pp.10, log-rank test). There was also
no difference in the risk for disease progression between groups
1 and 2 when follow-up was considered to begin with the initial
clinic visit (Pp.17) or when patients who received non-
HAART regimens were excluded from group 2 (Pp.10).]]]

Why should a sick child with a viral illness not be given salicylates?

Answer:
No child under age 12 should be given aspirin (salicylates) because it increases their chances of developing Reye's syndrome. Reye's syndrome is a rare disease characterized by fatty changes in the liver (leading to liver failure) and encephalopathy (brain swelling - also could be fatal). This syndrome was first described when aspirin products were given to children with chicken pox or influenza B - now, to be safe, children shouldn't be given aspirin at all for any illness unless directly prescribed by a doctor in a few diseases.
Salicylic acid is a fancy name for aspirin. First of all kids should not take aspirin at a young age since it is a blood thinner and can cause stomach bleeding in the young, especially with their developing organs. Viral infections cannot be cured with aspirin or any medicine other than a vaccine so just let it pass.
Never give medications containing aspirin to a baby. Aspirin can make children susceptible to Reye's syndrome, a rare but potentially fatal illness
Aspirin or other salicylates should never be given to people under the age of 19. It can cause a potentially fatal disease called Reye's Syndrome. A good practice is to just never use aspirin at all for any type of fever or pain. There are other options like Tylenol or Motrin.

Why protect skin graphs from sun?

my child has skingraphs on her arms and legs due to being burnt why does the skin need protecting from the sun and what can i do to stop it getting itching in the sun.
Answer:
Hi,
I have also had skin graphs due to being burnt. I was told by my doctors not to go into the sun for 2 years to avoid not only a rejection of the graphs, but to also avoid being very badly burned again. ( Graphs are way more sensitive than normal skin and can burn in just a few moments in the sun)
The itching problem is because the skin is dry. lotion up all day long!! It's very important to use lotion and sunscreen and recommended to stay out of the sun completely during your healing process. ( a minimum of 2 years) pressure garments help with the scarring and will subdue some of the itching. (They keep the blood flowing to the skin without allowing blood flow to raised scar tissue, thus keeping scars down.)
It has been almost two years since my surgery and I am still itchy sometimes. I still stay out of direct sunlight and lotions up as often as I can. I started using the expensive Rx lotion they gave me at the hospital, but have found Aveeno lotion to work great. I especially like the one with the oat meal. Aveeno also makes a bath additive for soaking dry skin, it also have oatmeal in it, but it is not recommended if the skin still has open soars or blisters.
It is also very important not to scratch. this is almost impossible to do, i know. I usually got away with rubbing and being very careful not to break open the skin. ( Yes, I have done it. The rubbing feels so good you almost can't stop) I have gotten yelled at by my Doctors sooo many times for having rub burns!! I was told it only produces more scar tissue, which can interfere with the nervous system and cause numbness and more pain through out the body.
because it is basically scar tissue and is more delicate than the other skin, same with tattoos, make sure you cover her up/use a good factor 50 sun lotion
I recommend getting the highest SPF lotion out there. I have 60spf stuff. The reason is that these graphs are exceptionally sensitive, and you want to protect your daughter from having any potential issues that the sun may cause...cancer for one.

Why people gets pimples on thier oily skin?

how can v open a car using mobile phone when key is inside the car and the car is locked?
Answer:
pimples happen not b/c u have oily skin, but because of a poor diet, and lack of nutrition.
Oily skin and the skin cells that naturally shed combine and clog the pores. You can't open a car using mobile phone. Whoever started that story was just joking.
RELATION OF PIMPLES TO OPENING OF CAR?
Acne or pimples are usually a result of hormonal changes and an irregular and increased production of oil by the sebaceous glands. An excellent remedy for pimples or acne-prone skin can be made by mixing 1 teaspoon ground cloves with 2 tablespoons fullers earth and ice water. When you wash your face, use sugar to scrub it, at least once a day, for two weeks to rid yourself of acne. Check out http://useinfo-acne.blogspot.com/... for more useful info.

Why on earth I don't get any slight tan although I sit in the sun a lot? I am a white?

guy and many people make fun of my color. Many girls don't find it attractive and they say that a guy shouldnt be white! (Is it true? Any tips to make my skin darker other than sunless tanning lotions and tan beds? When I sit in the sun I get a very slight paleness which disappears the next day. I hate my color or maybe people made me hate it!
Answer:
Stop complaining about your "flaw" of being white and accentuate your positives. Do you have awesome hair? Are you an attractive bald dude? Are you muscular? Do you NOT have any "physical" attributes that you like? DO you have a charming personality? What about a sense of humor? A kind heart? A generous person? Stop trying to be what you think others think you should be or look like and build on your God given positives...
no your bald! joke.em thats like me mate.i dont no eaither
Any girl that rags on you beause you are not tan is not worth hanging out with anyways.
personaly, i'd not wory about it. just be glad you don't sunburn super easy like some people.
You should not be sitting in the sun unless you are using a very good sunscreen as you are risking skin cancer. Not all people tan well so since this is the case go to a salon that offers spray tans. These look natural and are done by someone trained in spray tans.
Just be who you are, a tan is not that big of a deal. Don't sit out baking in the sun, you can get skin cancer, my sister just found out a mole on her shoulder is cancerous and she is only 29. Whoever these girls are that tell you you shouldn't be white need to go out with George Hamilton.
Basically you lack melanin. The more melanin you have in your skin the darker you can get. Black People have the most melanin since they have had to endure the African sun that can get up 117 degrees. Melanin protect the skin from sun damage.People from really northern climate tend to have the least amount of melanin because of high altitudes have less sun in those areas so the body evolved to allow my light in. No matter where you live now you can not escape where your ancerstors came from. You need to be really careful because you can get skin cancer. Skin cancer is tricky cause you might try to tan now but not see cancer for maybe twenty years later. Becareful if I were you I would not try to tan it is not natural to you. Besides maybe you are just looking in the wrong area. In countries like ice land, ireland, scotland, england, people will have a color similar to yours and maybe that might be a better place for you to find a mate someday. There are women all over the world of all shapes and colors so don't despair buddy cause take a look at some russian girls they are pale just like you and they all look like supermodels.

Why no one has created awareness on domestic storage of drugs?

Since awareness is very much lacking, nothing better can be expected. Exp date is not the sole criteria. Tonics are best discarded if not used before 3 months. Dry syrups made into liquid syrup at home should be discarded if not used With in in 7 days Tablets and capsules in strip packing / in bottles with a drying bag ould be used till the date of expiry provided they are preserved not higher than 30 deg C. Ointments / creams should be preserved in the paper cartoons with cap intact. Injections should always be purchased fresh before taking prick Eye / ear drops should be discarded after 7 days from the day of opening
Answer:
It is probably because no one believes those guidelines. Probably most people have taken expired pills and have found that they still work...usually. Thank you for listing guidelines, though.
